Cooling Off In New Orleans: Water Parks, Splash Pads and Pools

We all know it gets super hot here during the summer in New Orleans. So what can we do to try to keep as cool as possible? Well lucky for you I have created a list of things around town to help with those summer blues. New Orleans Pools

NORDC: NORDC operates fifteen pools through out the city that are open to the public and free. Most are outdoor pools that are only open in the summer months and some are indoor pools open year round. They also offer swim lessons and aquatic exercise such as aerobics and yoga. UNO Aquatics Center: 6801 Franklin Ave, New Orleans, La 70122; (504) 280-7238. UNO has both an indoor and outdoor pool. Membership starts $15 per month and day passes are $10 per person. Check the website for times and more information. 

New Orleans Water Parks and Splash Pads

Lafreniere Park Spray Park: 3000 Downs Blvd. Metairie. Children under 10 only. Cost:  $5 per 90 minute session.

Audubon Zoo's Cool Zoo: 6500 Magazine St. New Orleans.  Cost:  $12 for non-members/$10 for members.

Bayou Segnette Wave Pool: 7777 Westbank Expressway, Westwego. Cost: $13 per adult, $10 per child under 4ft on a  first-come, first-served basis.

Woldenberg Rivefront Park: In front of the Aquarium of the Americas. Cost: FREE

New Orleans Country Clubs With Pools

There are small swim clubs and neighborhood country clubs all around New Orleans, Metairie, the Westbank and surrounding areas. Here is a list of a few we put together for you.

Bissonet-Maned Downs Country Club: 5400 Irving Street, Metairie. 504-887-9546. Cost: $350 plus monthly dues of 87.07 and a yearly building fee of $150.

Southeast Louisiana Water Parks and Splash Pads

White Sands Lake Day Beach: 13301 LOUISIANA 1073, FRANKLINTON, LA 70438. 985-515-0114. Cost: $15 for adults and $10 for children 3-11, children 2 and under are free.

Abita Springs and Madeville Trailhead Splash Pads: Located on the Abita Spings and Mandeville Trailheads. Cost: FREE!

Water Playgrounds at Local State Parks: Tickfaw in Springfield, Fontainebleau in Mandeville, and St. Bernardin Braithwaite. Cost depends on the park, most are $2 a person.

Mandeville Lakefront Splash Pad: This FREE splash pad and beach is located on the Mandeville lakefront!

Ormond Spray Park: 1901 Ormond Boulevard, Destrahan. FREE

Blue Bayou Water Park: 18142 Perkins Road Baton Rouge, LA 70810. 225 – 753-3333. Cost: Over 48 inches $40.75| under 48 inches $34.75 | Seniors (60+) $34.75 | 35 inches and under FREE.

Liberty Lagoon: 111 Lobdell Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70806; 225-923-3202. Cost: Over 48 inches $12 | Under 48 inches $10. There are additional fees for tube rentals and the Shockwave.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Water Parks
