Super Fun Things To Do In New Orleans Before Summer Ends

Summer is quickly coming to an end. It seems like it just started yesterday and now we are gathering up the school supplies and new uniforms while we count down to school starting in just a few short weeks. Seriously where did summer go?  To help you make the most of the time you have left this summer, we put together this list of super fun things to do in New Orleans before summer ends sponsored by Rapid Urgent Care.

Cafe Du Monde in City Park

Cafe Du Monde is opening in City Park on July 31, 2019. Just in time to get in a few beignets before school starts. Cafe Du Monde will be open from 6 am to midnight on Sunday through Thursday and 6 am – 1 am on Friday and Saturday.

City Park Amusement Park

You gotta hurry if you want to play before the park closes for the season which looks to be August 4, 2019. But before it closes be sure to go and ride the Ladybug and the carousel and all the rides you can. The Carousel Gardens Amusement Park is open Tuesday – Thursday from 11 am – 5 pm, Friday and Saturday 11 am – 8 pm and Sunday 11 am – 6 pm. Prices are $4.00 per person for admission (kids 36″ and under FREE) and $18.00 per person for an unlimited ride bad or $4.00 per person per ride.

Cool Zoo at Audubon Zoo

This is the last week that Cool Zoo will be open during the week. After August 4, 2019 Cool Zoo will only be open on weekends through September 2, 2019 and will close for the season on September 3, 2019. So you only have a little over a month to play at New Orleans only water park. Cool Zoo is open Monday through Friday from 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 6 pm. Cost of admission into Coo Zoo is $10 for Audubon Members and $12 for non members.

Summer Lyric Theater at Tulane

I've heard amazing things about the Summer Lyric Theater at Tulane. End this summer with a showing of the musical Matilda from August 1, 2019 through August 4, 2019 in Tulane's Dixon Hall. Tickets start at $28 per person and can be purchased here.

The Woodlands Conservatory

Brave the heat and take a hike through the Woodlands Conservatory in Belle Chasse (449 F. Edward Hebert Blvd., Belle Chasse, Louisiana). The Woodlands is Louisiana's last remaining bottomland hardwood forest. It's free and open to the public from dawn until dusk seven days a week. Hike the trail and discover grouping of 10 WWII Ammunition Magazines. Be sure and bring plenty of water, sunscreen and bug spray!

Couturie Forest

Another wonderful hiking trail right in the middle of the city. Located in City Park, Couturie Forest is one of the many free things to do inside the park. This 60 acre nature preserve is perfect for hiking and exploring. Check out this post for other free activities in New Orleans City Park.

Ormond Spray Park

Have little kids and don't feel like dealing with the madness that is Cool Zoo sometimes? Take a drive out to Destrehan to Ormond Spray Park. The park is open Tuesdays – Sundays from 1 – 6 pm through the end of August and then weekends only through September 29, 2019. Best of all the park is FREE!
