Free Things To Do In New Orleans This Week

2017 is winding down, it’s the last week of the year! That Hasn’t stopped us from finding your FREE Family FUN. Here are your 10+ FREE Things to do in New Orleans this week.

Audubon Nature Center 

  • Walking Trails:  Open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Exhibit Hall: Open Wednesday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Jefferson Parish Library

Free events ALL WEEK long that include holiday storytimes, crafts and more.

Roosevelt Hotel Lobby

Daily now through Christmas. The lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel is transformed into a winter wonderland of lights every holiday season

Microsoft Store at Lakeside Shopping Center

FREE workshops and classes for all age groups. Register on their website.  

The Botanical Gardens in City Park

Wednesday, December 27th from 10am-5pm at 5 Victory Lane, NOLA. Residents of La attend free every Wednesday compliments of the Helis Foundation.

New Orleans Museum of Art

Wednesday, December, 27th from 10am-6pm. Free admission to Louisiana residents, children under 6, and teenagers 13-19, thanks to the Helis Foundation.

Baby Sign & Play

Wednesday, Dec. 27th from 2pm-3pm. ZukaBaby in Metairie is a playful environment where babies and caregivers will sing a song and learn to sign.

Kenner Christmas Village

Wednesday, Dec, 27th- Friday, Dec. 29th from 6pm-9pm; Saturday, Dec. 30th from 10am-9pm.
Lights, snow, live entertainment and fun. While visiting the Christmas Village is free, there are some activities that have a $1-5 fee. Ice skating is $5 for 30 minutes.

Family Bingo!

Wednesday, Dec. 27th from 6pm-7:15pm at Chick-fil-A in Harvey. Come spend family time and win great prizes.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art

Thursday, December 28th from 10am-5pm at 925 Camp St., NOLA. Free every Thursday for La Residents thanks to the Helis Foundation.

Wonderful Winter Snowfall

Every Thursday and Sunday now through December 30th at 6 pm in The Esplanade’s Center Court.

The Story of Ferdinand Storytime

Saturday, Dec. 30 from 11am-12noon at Barnes and Noble, 3721 Veterans Blvd. Find out how Ferdinand fares and stay for activities after the story.

Chop It Up Youth Event featuring Big Freedia

Saturday, Dec. 30th from 2pm-4pm, sponsored by and located at Liberty Kitchen. 300 N. Broad St., NOLA. Sign up for the Youth Development Program,  meet Big Freedia, and come for a day full of activities and fun for kids 16-24yrs. Register to get your spot!

Noon Year’s Eve Celebration

Sunday, Dec. 31st from 11:15am-12:15pm under the Williams Sonoma Skylight in Lakeside Mall. Activities, entertainment, and a balloon drop at noon for kids ages 2-12.

Countdown en Français

Sunday, Dec., 31st from 4pm-6pm at the French Library, 3811 Magazine St.  Celebrate and countdown to the New Year at 5pm (midnight in France)! RSVP to thegrownups@thefrenchlibrary.com

  1. Learning Express Toys of Metairie is hosting a New Year’s Eve Tailgating Party!

    Our New Year’s Eve Tailgating Party at Learning Express will be a combo Saints Game Tailgating and New Year’s Eve party. We encourage you to dress in Black and Gold or Saints jerseys.
