How To Explore Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Confession: I'm not a Star Wars fan. I haven't seen any of the movies all the way through. Most of what I know I've learned from friends, the internet, and watching The Mandalorian (Baby Yoda SWOON).

However, I do love Disney, and I love a good theme. Disney hit it out of the park with Star Wars Galaxy's Edge when it comes to the theming of this new immersive land. Nicknamed Star Wars Land, it encompasses 14 acres in Disneyland, California, and at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Are you ready to journey to a new planet in a galaxy far, far away to live out your own intergalactic experiences?

If so, follow me to the planet Batuu where you will find unique sights, sounds, smells, and taste. You will be able to sample galactic food and beverages and explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops.

Where is Batuu?

Batuu is a destination along the galaxy's Outer Rim on the frontier of Wild Space. It's the home of the Black Spire Outpost, which is the infamous port for smugglers, traders, and adventurers. Once you step on Batuu, you will be part of the action as it unfolds around you.

With the Play Disney Mobile Parks app, you can choose to aid a smuggler, join the Resistance, or pledge your loyalty to the First Order. While there, you may also encounter Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, and Chewie.

What Attractions Does Batuu Have?

In Batuu you will find two awesome attractions.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Here you can take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy. This attraction will take you into the cockpit and allow you to take the controls in one of three unique and critical roles ae you hurtle through space. 

You will be given roles as pilots, some gunners, and some flight engineers creating multiple ways to experience the attraction.

Fastpass is available at Disney World, and MaxPass is available at Disneyland for this attraction.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

This attraction appears to be the most ambitious, immersive, and advanced attraction ever! This attraction puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. The journey will take you inside a full-sized starship and aboard a nearby Star Destroyer, where you will have a faceoff with Kylo Ren.

Instead of Fastpasses for Rise of the Resistance, you have boarding groups, which is like a virtual queue. . To get a boarding group, you must be inside the park. The best time to get into the park is as soon as the park opens. Once inside, open your My Disney Experience app and well, “may the force be with you.” Once you have your boarding group, you can go about your day. The app will alert you when it's time to ride. But don't wander too far. Once your group is called, you only have one hour at DHS and two hours at Disneyland to make it back to the ride.

A few tips for getting that coveted boarding group:

• Get to the park, so you are part of the first people inside when the park opens
• Your ENTIRE group must be scanned into the park
• DO NOT use park wifi
• Stand away from the crowd

Milk Stand

Here you will find Blue and Green Milk.

Kat Saka's Kettle. 

Love popcorn? You'll then love the Outpost Mix of uniquely flavored popcorn with a combination of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors found here.

Oga's Cantina

The blaster-bolt scorches on the wall tell a story here. You can also tell your own story while enjoying exotic beverages and listening to music by DJ R-3X, aka Rex, the former Starspeeder 3000 pilot droid from the original Star Tours.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.

Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs has traveled the galaxy and filled his pantry with exotic ingredients to make new and unusual dishes for you to enjoy.

Black Spire Outpost Market

Here you will encounter a former smelter droid carefully turning the spit of meats for mouth-watering Ronto Wraps as well as choose from exotic non-alcoholic drinks like Sour Sarlacc and Tatooine Sunset at Ronto Roasters. 

Where Can I Shop In Batuu?

Black Spire Outpost

This is the premiere apparel shop in Batuu. Here you can outfit yourself in the latest threads from across the galaxy, including Jedi Robes.

Also in the Black Spire Outpost Market you will find the following shops/stalls:

• Creature Stall which was dedicated to the rare and fascinating creatures that populate the galaxy.
• Black Spire Outfitters, which will showcase the latest accessories
• Toydardian Toymaker, which will be full of toys crafted by a Toydarian.

Droid Depot

Here you can construct your own astromech droids. Picking pieces and parts off a conveyor belt, you will be able to build one of two core models (R-series or BB-series) and customized your droid with various parts and colors.

The droids will be capable of interacting with Star Wars Land elements, and additional programming chips and accessories can be added for further customization.

Droid Deposit will also offer pre-built droids and droid-inspired products.

Savi's Workshop Handbuilt Lightsabers

Everyone wants a lightsaber, right? I know I do! Here you will be able to customize and craft your very own lightsaber. How cool is that?

Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities

Looking for rare and mysterious items that represent the different eras of the Star Wars galaxy? Look no further.

Here you will find holocrons, ancient Jedi and Sith artifacts, lightsabers, and more. Say hi to Dok. He'll be at his desk checking his inventory, taking incoming calls, and barking the occasional order at his assistants.

Where do your loyalties lie?

If you're part of the Resistance, you should hide over to Resistance Supply, where you will find bins, badges, hats, and other accessories.

Pledging your allegiance to the First Order, you will want to visit First Order Cargo, where they will find a never-before-seen First Order TIE echelon, as well as pins, caps, gear, model ships, and more.
