Celebration in the Oaks at New Orleans City Park

Growing up in New Orleans, my Christmas memories are filled with driving under the oaks at City Park for Celebration in the Oaks as 1000’s of twinkling lights hung from the trees and were placed throughout the park. It was pure magic!

Well, this year and most likely only for 2020 because of COVID-19, Celebration in the Oaks is just like we remember it as kids. That's right, the driving tour is back, and it's well perfectly magical.

I could sit here and tell you how wonderful this time of year in New Orleans City Park is, but why don’t you take a peek for yourself!

Where is Celebration in the Oaks Located?

Celebration in the Oaks is located inside New Orleans City Park, 2 Friederichs Ave. New Orleans 70124. This year there is only one entrance off Wisner Blvd by the festival grounds.

Why Celebration in the Oaks a Drive-Through in 2020?

This year because of Covid 19, Celebration in the Oaks has changed a lot.

In 2020 the event is a 2.25-mile driving tour.

City Park decided to make CITO drive through so that the people of New Orleans could continue the annual tradition of visiting the million twinkling lights in a safe, socially distant way.

There is also a few interactive surprises throughout the tour, so be sure to include the names of all the members of your party so you can take advantage of them.

Visiting brought back a lot of nostalgia from my youth. As always, Celebration in the Oaks will bring out the child in anyone that visits.
