Family Friendly Breweries
There are several family friendly breweries in the area, Urban South, Abita Brewery, NOLA, and Second Line Brewery; their taprooms are all kid-friendly. Most have covered or indoor areas – perfect when you need a break from the June heat. Urban South, Second Line and Abita Brewery usually have food trucks hanging around (check out their websites for a calendar of events). City Park Fishing
For the outdoorsy dad, grab a picnic lunch, some fishing poles bait, and head over to beautiful City Park. There are several fishing locations. Catfish, perch and bass are among some of the fish to be caught in the park’s 10+ miles of lagoons. You do need a valid freshwater fishing license from the State, so be prepared.
“Hit the Green” with dad at Loft 18, Metairie’s virtual golf headquarters. Dad can bring his own clubs or rent from Loft 18. One stall fits up to 10 people. There are plenty of food and drink options, sure to please everyone.
If dad needs an adrenaline rush, take him to Nola Motorsports Park where he can race Go Karts around a track. Children 52” and older can ride and/or drive the Go Karts. There are also inflatable slides to entertain everyone.
Miniature Golf is fun for all and at City Putt, everyone is sure to have a great time! City Putt located in City Park is New Orleans’ only miniature golf course and has two 18-hole course options – the New Orleans course and the Louisiana course. After, head over to Morning Call for some coffee and beignets.

The National WWII Museum
For the history buff, head over to The National WWII Museum. This historical museum is #2 in both the US and the World – pretty impressive! It’s housed on a 6 acre campus with many historical exhibits, a dinner theatre, and restaurants.
Grab your bicycles and helmets and cross the Causeway visit Tammany Trace, it spans from Covington and winds through Abita Springs, Mandeville & Lacombe and ends in Slidell. It offers biking, hiking, horse riding, an inclusive playground and more!
