10 FREE Things to Do in New Orleans with Kids This Week (April 30th – May 6th).

When people think New Orleans, they think fun! This week promises not to disappoint! Not only is Jazz Fest coming to a close with a phenomenal family friendly Riverfront Fireworks Show, but it’s also Children’s Book Week and GiveNOLA Day. Let’s not forget Cinco de Mayo should give you some epic fiestas to look forward to. Here’s our 10 FREE Things to Do in New Orleans with Kids This Week (April 30th – May 6th).  

A Fairytale Adventure

Monday, April 30th from 6pm-8pm at the Chick-fil-A in Metairie, 2236 Veterans Blvd. Dress as a character from your favorite fairytale, take a commemorative picture in the photo booth and have a magical time.

Children’s Book Week at Tubby and Coo’s

Tuesday, May 1st at 11am, 631 N. Carrollton Ave., NOLA. Join in the fun of Children’s Book week with events all week starting with the reading of Piggy & Pug! by Peggy Wheaton, then draw your own interpretation. Each day there will be a new event. Check out all the fun at Tubby and Coo’s where everyone is accepted and it’s all geek to them!

Free Snowballs with Thomas Morstead

Tuesday, May 1st from 6pm-8pm, 1823 Metairie Ave. in Metairie at Sal’s Sno-balls. Celebrate GiveNOLA Day 2018 with a cool treat, donate to What you give will grow and receive a free snowball.

Open Hours at Music Box Village

Thursday, May 3rd 11am-4pm at 4557 N. Rampart St., NOLA. Explore the Village that music made. Well, in actuality about 50 artisans constructed this musical masterpiece. This contemporary collaboration is fun for all and free. However, donations are appreciated to assist in keeping the magic open to the public.

Swing in the Park

Thursday May 3rd from 7:30pm-9:30pm at Lafrerinere Park, 3000 Downs Blvd. in Metairie. Enjoy sounds from yesterday and today brought to you by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Dance, sing or relax on your blanket and chairs.

Free Fridays at NOBL

Friday, May 4th from 12pm-10pm at both New Orleans Boulder Lounge locations, 1746 Tchoupitoulas, NOLA and 2360 St.Claude Ave., NOLA. Be sure you have signed waiver to climb to the top, kids 15 and under must be accompanied by a gaurdian.

Movies in the Park: Ghostbusters

Friday, May 4th from 6:15pm-9pm at Behrman Park, 2599 De Armas St., NOLA. Arrive early to enjoy  fitness fun with Fit NOLA, then enjoy your free movie screening. BYO blankets, picnics and chairs.

Cinco de Mayo

Saturday, May 5th from 12am-11:59pm at the fiesta of your choice. Celebrate any way you choose! Visit your favorite restaurant or make homemade tortillas and salsa along with tacos and fajitas. As long as you save me some candy from the piñata, we’re all good!

Ready, Set, Grow!

Saturday, May 5th from 10am-11:30am at 300 N. Broad St. at Refresh Project with SPROUT NOLA as your guide, this week is all about the water cycle and how rewarding it is to be a gardner.

Llama Llama Loves to Read Storytime

Saturday, May 5th from 11am-12pm at the Barnes and Noble in Metairie, 3721 Veterans Blvd. Baby Llama is a favorite. Join the fun as he learns to read, stay for activities after.

Art Klub Open Studio *First Sundays*

Sunday, May 6th from 5pm-8pm at The Art Klub Compound, 1941 Arts St., NOLA. Have fun with an open music jam, dance your heart out, collaborate, move, groove, work it out! Network and Chill with other artists of all ages and styles. Suggested donations of $5 are appreciated
