It’s the last week before Christmas to get in all of your FREE FUN in New Orleans, and this week won’t disappoint! Get your shopping done and enjoy the holidays, because “Santa Claus” is comin’ to town”!

Jefferson Parish Library

Free events ALL WEEK long that include holiday storytimes, crafts and more.

Roosevelt Hotel Lobby

Daily now through Christmas. The lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel is transformed into a winter wonderland of lights every holiday season.

Miracle On Fulton St.

December 1st – 23rd. Hourly snowfall, lights, and a gingerbread display in the hotel lobby can be seen daily from 11 am – 10 pm. Live music and Santa every Friday and Saturday night starting at 6pm.

St. Louis Cathedral and St. Augustine Church Concerts

Various dates now and throughout the holiday season. Free holiday concerts with local New Orleans musicians.

Microsoft Store at Lakeside Shopping Center

FREE workshops and classes for all age groups. Register on their website.  

New Parent Playdate

Monday, December 18th at 10:30am. Caregivers and babies 12mo. and under can meet up to play in a “padded, stocked play space.”

A Family Holiday Affair

Monday, December 18th from 6-8 pm at Chick Fil A Kenner. Family holiday fun and maybe a visit from Santa.

Young Audiences of Louisiana Baby Artsplay!™ Presented by The Helis Foundation

The Botanical Gardens in City Park

Wednesday, December 20th from 10am-5pm at 5 Victory Lane, NOLA. Residents of La attend free every Wednesday compliments of the Helis Foundation.

New Orleans Museum of Art

Wednesday, December, 20 from 10am-6pm. Free admission to Louisiana residents, children under 6, and teenagers 13-19, thanks to the Helis Foundation.

Free Pictures with Santa

Wednesday, December 20th from 11am-1pm at Fidelity Bank; 3829 Veterans Blvd.,NOLA.

Baby Sign & Play

Wednesday, December 20 at 2pm. Caregivers and babies can interact, play, and learn a song in sign language with babies their age.

Gingerbread Making and Storytelling

Wednesday, December 20th from 3:45pm-5:45pm at the French Library on Magazine St. Mais, Oui s’il vous plaît!  Email thegrownups@thefrenchlibrary.com to reserve spots.

Kenner Christmas Village

Lights, snow, live entertainment and fun Wednesdays – Sunday until December 30th.While visiting the Christmas Village is free, there are some activities that have a $1-5 fee. Ice skating is $5 for 30 minutes.

Winter Solstice Labyrinth Walk

Wednesday, December 20th from 6:30-7:30 pm at First Unitarian Universalist Church of New Orleans. Quiet contemplative service of silently walking the candlelit labyrinth in the darkened sanctuary.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art

Thursday, December 21st from 10am-5pm at 925 Camp St., NOLA. Free every Thursday for La Residents thanks to the Helis Foundation.

Wonderful Winter Snowfall

Every Thursday and Sunday now through December 30th at 6 pm in The Esplanade’s Center Court.

STEM Workshop Series presented by Generation Success

Thursday, December 21st from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Norman Mayer Branch Library on Gentilly Blvd. This workshop offers  fun and creative skills training in science, engineering, communication, and experiments for kids in 5th-9th grade. They also offer a meal and kids can compete for a scholarship at the end of this 4 part series. Generation Success seeks to help kids find their voice in education. Register here

Tunes for Toys

Thursday, December 21st from 7-10 pm at the The George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center. Toy drive and concert for underprivileged children in the Treme area. Performers include the New Breed Brass Band, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews and students of the Trombone Shorty Academy. Admission is FREE but all are requested to bring a new toy (still in packaging) as a holiday gift for a child in need.

Flannel & Frost Holiday Party

Thursday, December 21st from 7-9pm at Victory Fellowship.  Sleigh ride, live nativity petting zoo, snow and more. Food will be available for purchase.

Holiday Cookie Decorating for the Kids

Friday and Saturday, December 22nd & 23rd from 12-2 pm at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. Kids can decorate cookies at Le Croissant Restaurant located on the 1st floor next to Drago’s.

FREE Christmas Movie Night

Friday, December 22nd from 6pm to 9pm at the Vineyard Church of New Orleans in KENNER (4340 Sal Lentini Pkwy.). Popcorn, hotdogs, s’mores, hot chocolate provided. BYO blankets and chairs.

Santa’s Magic Key Storytime

Saturday, December 23rd from 11am-11:45am at Barnes and Nobles Bookstore Metairie and Westbank. Children can listen to the story and do activities based on the book after. 

Popp Fountain Public Hours

Sunday, December 24th from 9am-5pm in City Park.  

Contemporary Arts Center

Sunday, December, 24th from 11am-5pm at 900 Camp St., NOLA. FREE to Louisiana Residents on Sundays and daily for children & students through Grade 12 and under at all times courtesy of The Helis Foundation

Christmas Eve Bonfires on the Levee

Sunday, December 24th between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Start at the foot of the Veterans Memorial Bridge and River Road (Hwy 44) in Grammercy and drive to see the bonfires ablaze lighting the way for Papa Noel. With over 100 Bonefires stretching 40 miles in Grammercy, Lutcher, and Paulina, fire departments supervise the events in each area making it safe for the whole family!
